Supply & Demand Planner

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supply & Demand Planning Manager, the Supply & Demand Planner will support inventory planning and demand forecasting for a couple of our large imprints.  This role assists our Planning Manager by reviewing key inventory and sales reports to aid HBG’s print decisions and inventory maintenance, while working closely with Publishing Groups, Manufacturing, Sales, Fulfillment, and Warehouse Operations to support the diverse range of authors, titles, and publishing divisions at Hachette Book Group, a leading US trade book publisher.
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Run and review daily, weekly, monthly, Inventory and Forecasting Reports. 
  • Review key account Cancel and Reorder Reports. 
  • Reprint Meeting review set up, provide print recommendations, and recap; Holiday Titles/Brand Books review.
  • First Print Meeting review, plan forecasts, and provide print recommendations.
  • Enter Printing Authorizations.
  • Point of Sales (POS) Forecasting.
  • Maintain Sales Reservation and Transfer Requests.
  • Manage Planner Codes to maintain proper planning, printing lead times, and visibility of sales promotions.
  • Monitor Reprints in Process at our printers to ensure titles are sequenced by need-by date priority.
  • Overstock/Remainder/Destruct review, Returns Disposition review, Refurbishment review, and Component Storage review.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • BA/BS/MS in a quantitative field preferred but not required.
  • At least 5 years background in a publishing industry supply & demand planning environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with various teams involved in the forecast process.
  • Proven analytical skills and adeptness with analytical tools, including advanced Excel.

The compensation range for this position is $70,000-$80,00. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
